he makes a new magical friend and a dragon!
Together the trio rescue the moon,
and a budding friendship begins!

And then comes Helga Returns.
While out on a walk one day James stumbles
upon a footprint so large and mysterious.
What could it be? His magical friends Syvok
comes to explore-and together they think
trouble could be around the corner!
The two creep up on Helga and the adventures continue!

What would come next, well of course some Lads.
Thirteen Santas! How neat!
Thinks James as he and Syvok set off on their third adventure.
Little did he know the mischief these Yule Lads were capable of getting them all into.
Raucous, laughs, and Yuletide joy are ahead making memories for James and friends!

When asked a few questions, here’s what Wendy had to say:

1 When did you first start writing?

2 Did you always want to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

No, my education is urban planning, prelaw. I always thought I would either work at a government planning office or be a City Manager. Or strategic planning manager for a company. I have never worked for a government entity. But I find myself on many committees as a volunteer for government programs. Currently helping with Library Renovation Project locally.Although in my past working career I have always had to be creative to get things done and motivate employees.
3 What genre do you prefer to work within?Or do you mix it up?

Children, Urban Fantasy, Scifi.

4 Where does your inspiration for these stories (this story) come from?

My family. I started writing while living in Iceland. My son saw the moon sitting on the mountain and told me he can climb the mountain and touch the moon. Wrote the first draft within two days. Been writing ever since that day.
And yes my family lived in Akureyri, Iceland for two years. It was a blast.
5 What has your publishing experience been like?

Very good with Anchor Group Publishing

6 Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? i.e. You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

I listen to music to distract me from the outside world.

7 How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

Family, Friends, people I have met through the years. I also look up meaning of words often.

8 In your most recent work, who is your favorite character and why?

My novel New Moon Brethren that I am currently working on one of the main Characters is Blaze. She is honest, grumpy, and a true friend.

10 How did you/do you market your work?

This is still a learning curve. My publisher gives us advice.

11 Can you describe the feeling you had when you saw your published book for the first time?

Immense pleasure.

12 Favorite authors?

I have so many. I love every one of the Anchor Group and Xchyler Publishing Authors. I really like Willow Cross’s books, Karen Pokras Toz kids books. Anne McCaffrey, David Weber- Honour Harrington Series. I own nearly every Starwars book written and Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody series to name a few.

13 Have you ever suffered from a “writer’s block”? What did you do to get past the “block”?

I usually go and edit or update my character files when I am blocked.

14 What piece of advice would you give to a new writer?

Write every day, rewrite, edit, have friends read then find a good editor. Hire a couple of Beta readers.

15 Are you working on anything new? If so, can you tell me about it?

I am currently working on a novel that is urban fantasy called New Moon Brethren. Secret society that has been around for a long time protecting sentient beings on earth. Trying to keep one step ahead of the dark one from taking over the world.

Review: The Visitors Series By: Author Christy Sloat

My original plan was to read The visitors series one at a time and review them individually.  I wasn’t expecting to OBSESS over them and read 2 books and a novella in 2 days!

My overall review of this series is fantastic! As I’ve said before, I will always tell you my true opinion and review, so I must say that there are some editing (spelling, grammar) errors.  Although, It’s not enough to interfere with reading. The Visitors Series is such a dynamic read.  It’s got love, happiness, sadness, fear, ghosts, failure, conquest; it literally has everything you’d want. It’s an easy read, and the fact that it’s well written and detailed makes it easy to visualize.  It’s the perfect read, I highly recommend these books.

All information on how to purchase these books will be linked below!

Warning…there will be spoilers from this point on:

The Brown House starts with an introduction to your main character, Brylee Branson.  She’s a young girl who’s been forced to leave her home town in California and move to a much smaller town in New Jersey after her father looses his job.  When she gets to Jersey she meets Lynley Mayhew, and her brother Ephraim (who’s a total hottie ;)).

Brylee is told that her house, commonly referred to as the Brown House, is haunted, but she doesn’t believe in ghosts and the nonsense people are spewing at her.  She tries to figure out any way to write off the strange things that begin to happen to her and her family, but when she fails she brings in the Mayhews for help.  Ephraim and Brylee become close; extremley close, and her friendship with Lynley grows.

Brylee discovers she has the ability to communicate with spirits who have yet to cross over.  That’s when she meets a young ghost, Pearl Brown, who’s trapped in her house. In an effort to help Pearl cross over she must release the curse that’s keeping the Brown’s spirits trapped in the old house.  What happens when they finally get the key that unlocks the truth?  The curse is not released, but passed on to the Mayhews!

The Crimson Key focuses on Brylee trying to save the love of her life and her best friend.  She must find the Barclay sisters, the witches that placed the curse on the Browns and now passed it down to the Mayhews.

Brylee struggles with her “gift” and has to seek help.   She finds a tarot card reader, Hala.  She agrees to help Brylee, but Brylee must return the favor.  Through this journey she meets several spirits, all of whom she wants to help pass on, but she MUST focus on saving Ephraim and Lynley.

Lynley’s health begins to deteriorate.  She’s not herself, she’s covered in hives, she barley speaks to Brylee, and she becomes more and more detached from life in general.  All effects of the vicious curse, that causes its victims to succumb to self induced death.  Ephraim is hearing spirits, he’s seeing things he shouldn’t and it petrifies Brylee to think about not having a future with him.

When Brylee’s parents tell her they want to move back to California she proclaims her independence and refuses to leave her new life.  She does however agree to go visit her grandparents.  Brylee and her parents are set to leave shortly after Ephraim graduates high school.

Before they get the chance Lynley’s mental state declines and she scaldes herself to the point of needing hospitalization.  Brylee makes a trip to the hospital and says goodbye to her dear friend before leaving for California.

The whole time Brylee is in California she is distracted with the thought that she might not make it back in time to save Lynley and Ephraim.  The only thing that helps is that the spirit of Ethan, a boy Brylee nearly dated in California who had died in a car crash, was still around.  Brylee uses her skills and helps him pass on, she helps his parents find closure.

With no warning, Brylee gets a very important message from Hala.  A picture of one of the Barclay sisters.  What she sees is shocking, its Mrs. Mayhew, Lynley and Ephraims own mother.  She hops on the first plane she can find and heads back to New Jersey.  When she gets there, she’s to late and Lynley and Ephraim are in the Brown house with their “mother”.

She’s to late, Lynley has overdosed at the hands of her own mother.  Ephraim has been tied up, but is uninjured.  Brylee kills Ephraims mother, the Barclay witch, leaves her spirit in the corner room of the house, and locks the door as quickly as possible!

Lynley is dead, but will she be able to pass on?  Mrs. Mayhew has presumably left town, and Ephraim is all alone.  Brylee asks her parents if he can live with them, and after much persuasion they agree.

What will be next for Brylee, Lynley, Kayla, Ephraim?  When will Hala call on Brylee to repay her?

Safe to read from this point forward: NO SPOILERS

If you are reading the visitors series this book is a MUST read!  When we meet Kayla in The Brown House, we just think she’s some punk/Goth kid with electric blue hair.

This book gives you a look at who Kayla really is, what happened to her, and a bit of idea as to why she hasn’t crossed over.  You learn that Kayla battled depression, but she was also VERY happy, and loved.

This book gives you details into the tragic accident that took her life.  Something meant to be a joke didn’t turn out so funny.

The 3rd book in the series was just released “The White Door” I’ll read and review that shortly 🙂

~So, the truth be told~

Super Bowl Sunday!

I’m a born and raised Seahawks girl, so when I heard they were going to the Super Bowl I planned a little get together with family and friends.  I had planned on doing a full out nail tutorial, but the base polish (bonbons) ended up giving me some trouble, so I decided I’ll just do a quick run through and post a bit about how we celebrated!

Of course I painted my nails to rep the Hawks.  I started with a green base of the BonBons green polish.  (Note:finding anything in Seattle colors was impossible).

(the little man helped :))

After my nails had fully dried we cut (or pulled) pieces of tape into the size we wanted.

I then painted the exposed nail in Pure Ice blue.

After the blue dried, I simply took off the tape. And this was the result:

(sorry about this picture quality, not sure what happened, but you get the idea)

We then (my dad helped too :)) added a dash of white.

This is the end result before I cleaned up the *oopsies* with a q-tip and nail polish remover.

I did a Hawk inspired eye using an E.L.F pallet I bought on clearance after Christmas 2 years ago!

We had 15-20 people there, and we had a huge spread for game time!  I made indian tacos with homemade fry bread, taquitos, chips, dip, lil smokeys, hot wings, and cupcakes!

I’m super proud of our boys for winning!!!  Hope everyone got to watch the game.

Much love~Meg

Avon Instinct Fragrance collection review

At first glance I thought Avon instinct would be one of those perfumes that get customers based on their ads and not their scent.  But, I was wrong.  The ads feature the gorgeous Megan Fox in a beautiful exotic setting.  If that didn’t entice you, then the scent will!  I tried this perfume several days in a row to make sure I was able to write a proper review, and I was complemented every day!

I sprayed the perfume on at approximately 10am each day. 1-2 squirts on my clothing and 1 squirt on my wrist and the scent was still noticeable over 8 hours later!  For perfume, that’s fantastic!  Avon describes the scent as an “intense fusion of sparkling greens, exotic camellia, and a touch of sensual sandalwood.”  The bottles are textured and have a small hint of leopard print.

I purchased the instinct fragrance collection; it included perfume, lotion, and shower gel.  The instinct lotion is not to thin, not to thick.   The scent is nice and the lotion leaves your skin feeling smooth, not oily.

Lastly I tried Avon Instinct shower gel.  It has a great scent that is still very noticeable on the skin after a shower.  A small amount goes a long way and it lathers nicely.

I’d also like to note that we did try the mens line as we’ll and give it the same great review.   My dad (the tester in the mens department) said that he felt the mens didn’t last as long as the woman’s, but the smell was still really nice and he liked it overall.

Over all I really like this line.  The entire set (perfume, shower gel, lotion) costs $28, which is a great value for such a high end product.   The only product we haven’t tried from this line is the men’s after shave lotion.  Everything else is fabulous!

You can find this product through Avon or online at
